Trip to Phoenix

I went to Phoenix over the Thanksgiving holiday and stayed at my friend's family's house. They have a nice view of the south mountain park from their back yard.

Night Painting Season

Here is last years fall and winter night paintings. The plein air group always meets up at five pm regardless of season so when the light starts to disappear we just put on our headlamps and switch to night painting.

Sunday Plein Air

It's of a sculpture over at Occidental College.

One of the pearls of wisdom I came away with from the James Gurney DVD is that watercolor requires a degree of recklessness. John Singer Sargent said that watercolor is like a controlled emergency.
